TSC Talks Revival!! JUSTIN LESLIE of Project Whistleblower ~ Truth Under Fire

This is a special edition, TSC Talks Revival episode with Justin Leslie! Justin is an ex-Pfizer scientist and whistleblower. Justin was also one of my first guests on my podcast “TSC Talks” in 2018, (https://bit.ly/3Iz0FUU) where he shared his story about his experience with diagnosis and living with TSC.

I met Justin back in 2016ish through my friendship with his mother, Dorina Leslie. I had qualified and was training for the Boston Marathon to raise money for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex research and was posting about it on social media. Dorina, who had a son diagnosed with TSC, read my story, “Mom of 3 with TSC Runs Boston” (or something like that) and reached out in a Facebook Group. She was so encouraging and supportive! We became friends.  As I started to build the podcast TSC Talks, she suggested I interview her son, Justin, who had a mild form of TSC. Justin had been diagnosed with this dis-ease, later in life than most, and yet had had some significant struggles he’d had to overcome. Struggles that might be helpful if shared and heard by others in similar circumstances.

So, we did the (first) interview. It was incredible to have this young man who had really struggled with his own mortality and sense of purpose after receiving a TSC diagnosis, come and share from the heart, with such conviction, his lived experience and vision for going to study pharmacology to eventually contribute to finding a cure for this hateful dis-ease, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. His podcast was a hit in the small community centered around TSC and was an inspiration to many. Flash forward several years. I stayed in touch with Justin’s mom, and she’d tell me what he was up to from time to time. He had such a passion and intensity about him, I was confident he was going to make some important contributions. I knew he had been working at Pfizer, and hated it, & the next thing I knew, he was working with Project Veritas and Dorina couldn’t talk about it. I was like Wow. Then more recently he showed up in my feed in pictures from a retreat he attended with Alec Zeck. What a whirlwind! I wanted to talk to him again.

We connected in January 2024 in a phone convo and Justin filled me in on what had been going on with him of late. I was blown da feck away!!! Not only had Justin been working at Pfizer but had gone undercover as a double agent working for Project Veritas, then again at OMG Media with James O’Keefe. He shared that he was working on a documentary called “Project Whistleblower” and was chronicling in the most riveting way, his experiences and strong soul’s urging to share the whole truth of what he uncovered during these last few years.

I told him I’d love to interview him and catch up on his story since the time he was on TSC Talks. I felt it would be so relevant for both of us as we’d kind of come full circle in seeing the inversions of the systems we’d both been heavily invested in and gone through intense disillusionment, yet come away with a renewed passion for getting beyond all the disconnections, fragmentations, half truths of the systems and get at root causes …for TSC, for dis-ease…so I’m sharing the transcript here from our first interview and will be sharing the transcript from our upcoming interview as well! I think this is incredibly important to Justin’s “story” as it demonstrates the vast transformation in awareness and understanding of the systemic inversion and the trance like spell so many are under regarding the half truths and flat out deception propagated over many years, but specifically since 2020 and the injection of half truths related to just about everything we’ve collectively held sacred.  So here we go…here’s the first interview we did together, both in completely different mindsets and circumstances meeting to discuss the impact of the rare disease, TSC.

In “Project Whistleblower” Justin shares his personal journey, including living with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), a condition that not only shaped his childhood but also inspired him to pursue a career in pharmacology, aiming to find a cure for his condition.

During his time as a vaccine scientist at Pfizer, Justin began to collaborate undercover with Project Veritas. This partnership led to the revealing of mind blowing revelations about the COVID-19 ‘scamdemic’ and other alleged misconduct within Pfizer. However, he soon started to observe concerning behaviors within Project Veritas, such as the suppression of timely truths and vaccine concerns. These observations led him to question the integrity of the organization and its founder, James O’Keefe.

In collaboration with Marty Leeds, Justin has produced the compelling documentary “Project Whistleblower.” This film delves into his experiences and his growing awareness of the covert tactics and manipulations at Pfizer, Project Veritas, and OMG Media Group. In an era rife with lies and deception, the documentary underscores the revolutionary act of truth-telling.” (credit to Amanda Vollmer: https://yummy.doctor/video-list/advocates-for-truth-amandha-vollmer-adv-with-justin-leslie/)

TSC Talks! Final podcast~Wrapping it Up & Thanks

Jill wraps up the podcast! I started in 2016 by interviewing my kids and how they were affected by Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. It was absolutely divine inspiration from the start and branched out shortly after to interviewing community members and other professionals who worked with those affected. From there, I explored many different topics, providing information and resources in interview form, all with relevance to the individuals and/or parents/caregivers affected by a chronic illness like TSC.

Pushing the boundaries of what was deemed “safe and effective” by our medical system, I continued to put the info out there based on my own lived experience as a parent/caregiver living and dealing with what I’d come to discover is CPTSD if you want to use a label. It was my vision and still is that all “remedies” for improving the quality of life of all involved in the wheels of chronic illness, particularly one such as TSC which affects all the vital body organs, will be an option for all.

Why should we hold back the river when there are so many speaking about how their lives have been impacted by sharing their truths, sharing what’s worked for them and what potentially might help another ease the very real and almost daily traumas of attempting to live with an open heart and navigate our inverted systems of care?

Many of these podcasts go against the grain of what people are comfortable hearing. There are always positive takeaways but there are some heavy heavy experiences that people are walking through and talking about and must be given voice. I think through honest conversation, and taking full responsibility for one’s reactions to other’s sharing from their most painful, heart-wrenching moments, we can begin to hear each other once again at least long enough to realize, we’re all having vastly different experiences yet we all long to be here now, safe, loved, whole, home.

Thanks for tuning in and being here there and everywhere. It’s been the pleasure of a lifetime to have the opportunity to create and share this work.

Love Jill

Points of Light~Linsey Hurley~Holistic Health Coach Working with Cutting Edge Energy Healing Technologies “Silver Linings”

Linsey Hurley is a holistic health coach, and she has worked with cutting-edge energy healing technologies for many years. She was led to the alternative health field after her experience witnessing her sister go through stage 4 breast cancer within the mainstream health system. Despite her and her sister doing much research and finding alternative treatments which when suggested, were basically brushed off and ignored. This was over 40 years ago. She ultimately lost her sister, and faith in our conventional system, which explains the silver lining. Her sister inspires her and is with her every day and she is grateful for her impact on her life, ultimately pushing Linsey into utilizing and sharing these amazing healing energy devices and tools today! The rest of this story is in the podcast. See timestamps from the transcript below.

I met Linsey Hurley this past December when we both participate in a Freedom Flash Mob dance event at a local mall. It was a fun and powerful event, a group of locals suddenly bursting into dance and raising awareness of our right to medical freedom! So, I figured the people I met at this event were pretty special. I got a text from Linsey a few weeks ago and we got to chatting. She told me a bit about her business and this new patch she had been guided to that was quite interesting. At that point, I decided to invite her on the podcast to discuss and was quite impressed with what I learned, and the potential of this new tool, X39 patches as well as other offerings at Livewave

timestamps:
1-2:18 Introduction
2:18~Linsey’s story, holistic health coach…. started 40+ years ago when her sister was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer
3:06~this experience w/her sister and watching her go through all the conventional treatments to no avail despite doing research w/her sister on alternative options, led her to not have much trust in our conventional medical system
3:57~Again her experience with her sister led her to alternative health and deeper into spirituality to process this loss, which was over 40 years ago and she’s still here. She considers this a gift from her sister.
5:36 the mainstream narrative keeps us in fear and subservience with no energy to consider why we are here
5:57~Linsey’s sister is still with her
6:32~Start of discussion on X39 patches which support the body’s natural systems
7:23~the body is brilliant! We can support it in the way it wants to heal
7:45~FDA glitch at beginning of the pandemic, Linsey could not use regular tools such as the Beamer and was led to X39 patches
8:06~X39 patches are a frequency device that activates the body’s stem cells.
8:37~A discussion of exactly what stem cell therapy is, what’s involved, the expense, often making it inaccessible and usually used as a last-ditch effort when all else has failed
9:53~further explanation of the patch, non-transdermal, made of amino acids and salt crystals, activates different reactions In the body
10:36~the science is putting frequencies on the skin that cause other reactions leading to doing some healing
11:04~David Schmidt is a scientist who was hired by the Navy to develop a patch for Navy Seals to replace amphetamines
12:02~Linsey uses a lot of patches now she has all her grandchildren living with her~more patches have been developed
12:24~David Schmidt brought this technology to a friend who was a coach of UCLA swimming, he’s been developing and working on it ever since. Different patches are all based on the frequency
13:15~X39 patch is the holy grail -activates GHK Copper Peptides that decline with age
14:10~It’s just actually about age reversal, have had a 70-year-old test with the body of a 50-year-old
15:00~Helps with all kinds of degenerative diseases, many testimonials, MS, Parkinson’s
16:17~comparison of different frequency devices, AO Scan, Beamer, all are wonderful and if possible used right now to get through these times when we are bombarded with energies, 5G, EMF…
17:20~Linsey had an autoimmune disorder, 15-20 years ago, had to quit her job, “3-year retreat”, trusted spirit, found Kangen water, another healing modality which was expensive but a good investment as she was able to heal.
20:29~Our healthcare systems are frustrating, organ-based, siloed, going from one drug to the next, Band-Aid instead of getting at the deeper reason for illness, no quality of life
22:06~Doctors educated at medical schools funded by big pharma and are taught nothing in regards to energy even though they use technology like MRIs which could be used in healing
23:18 Bruce Lipton~Placebo effect
24:00~Potential for special needs communities is huge with these patches, also for parents and caregivers
24:21~Only restriction is not to use the patches during chemotherapy as it will detox the chemo
25:05 If the patch effect is too strong, take it off for a few hours. Linsey’s experience with retracing
26:36~You won’t want to stop, you will see a decrease in results if you do not continue use, Linsey is very upfront about this. This is an out-of-the-box business paradigm and opportunity!

Points of Light~ Leigh Anne Bianchi, Founder of Good Citizenship Project, Activating Good Citizens~Part Two

SEE SHOW NOTES FOR PART ONE FOR MORE DETAIL! https://tsctalks.com/leigh-anne-bianchi/
I had the pleasure of interviewing Leigh Anne Bianchi, Founder of Good Citizenship Project recently on TSC Talks. She was joined by her business manager Carla Bell. We had a free-ranging discussion covering many topics but all regarding the benefits of the sort of unconventional programming Leigh Anne has developed through GCP and how this meets many of the huge gaping unmet needs for those individuals diagnosed with autism and other special needs that our systems of care have become too siloed and disconnected to address. “Developing a sense of meaning and purpose, social-emotional skills, work ethic, and peer relationships by volunteering, distributing donations, and supporting local farms.”

Timestamps for part 2:
0-52 Intro
00:54- Antonio’s Waitress Olivia treats them like humans, the start of the discussion on sexuality and special needs
2:26 All the PC of working w/special needs has made sexuality issues really challenging. People taken advantage of, they are developmentally younger and no one talks about this
5:03 Karaoke, real-world situations help
5:28 Dashboard confessionals, you can say stuff without eye contact when conversations about penises and vaginas come out. Pediatricians recommend using scientific wording, Leigh Anne took all the training on autism/special needs and sexuality and can talk candidly.
9:27 Why questions, keep asking them. So many lives could be ruined if everything is flagged as inappropriate. This population never gets to ask questions
11:06 Leigh Anne had to spend 5 minutes spend w/individual who had sex offender charges in ISP and Leigh Anne knew charges were not true-example
13:16 Paying for Good Citizenship Project….if you have an autism diagnosis, sometimes easier to get funding, agencies often don’t want to pick up those with autism but things changing and agencies can help you get funding to cover through DESE/Wraparound Family Services, Public Partnerships through Participant directed programming conduit, Private pay, PCA funds, DDS Family Respite funds
20:11 Leigh Anne should be paid more for all she offers. Charges $30/hour but will work with families. Leigh Anne does not have a BCBA or other letters after the name that would allow her to be recognized as a service agent but has the lived experience and work experience to exceed those with mere education
23:26 Becoming a non-profit would mean more strings attached, Johnny her horse would have to be certified as a therapy horse, her dog a pit bull mix, too many hoops to jump through. Jack couldn’t have used a log splitter!
26:31 Investor/philanthropist would be ideal with no strings attached. Leigh Anne took a chance w/Camp Marshall, wanting to partner and have it be her home base. If associated with an agency the volunteers would need to get paid. All benefits from GCP are not recognized as beneficial for many who don’t understand the depth of what she does.
31:31 Work to ride is an option or unpaid internship/apprenticeship. So much happens in learning these farm skills that is energetic…deciding how to perform tasks and learning from any mistakes, having the freedom to learn from mistakes like using a pitchfork instead of a shovel for a particular job…
34:21 Farmers giving the flexibility to figure out the approach to completing a job is helpful. So then it’s not regimented, can focus on the end results, not the niggling details and farmwork facilitates executive functioning in this area. Learning at the moment, the Montessori approach is part of Leigh Anne’s process
37:31 Give individual rules, allow them to screw up and figure it out is more powerful than reading how to do something in a book or being told what to do. Forced problem solving, you remember you had to take a different approach. This is empowering!
40:46 GCP NEEDS MONEY TO EXPAND! Fundraisers coming soon. Discussion of fundraisers
43:36 Looking for a home base with specific parameters. She needs to bring her animals. This has been challenging, small private barns are nervous to have special needs population-liability. Leigh Anne looking for a life in a caretaker position
46:21 Jack came in (Jill’s son who participates in GCP). Leigh Anne is looking for a situation where most of the labor at the new setting is done by members of the GCP. She screens applicants for a good match, meets parents and individuals, gives a grace period. Wants it known GCP is a for-profit not an agency.
49:01 But Leigh Anne is more than a job coach. The people she supports are part of her family. “So you want me to pay for you to force my kid to do slave labor” is some people’s attitude. No, they are learning transformative, resume-worthy skills.
51:11 Leigh Anne went to Salter College, able to be successful b/c was focused on one thing. There is real value in jobs that don’t require a degree. People do not see the scope of autism…Ford Motor Co was seeking to hire those on the Autism spectrum b/c of attention to detail/focus.
55:11 One of the goals of GCP is to raise awareness of what an autistic person looks like which has spread by word of mouth, inspiring others to think outside of the box in creating programs for this population. B/c of relationships developed through GCP, Leigh Anne has options-a temporary place to live if needed “if you do good things, they come back”. In our society many expect something in return for every little thing
60:11 Carla Bell is Leigh Anne’s business manager, helping her with a business plan and fundraising has worked in special ed
Thanks so much for listening!!! https://tsctalks.com

Points of Light~Leigh Anne Bianchi, Founder of Good Citizenship Project, Activating Good Citizens~Part One

In my opinion, what she shares are gems of vital importance. As someone who carries a diagnosis of Autism AND has worked within our siloed and disconnected systems of care, she gets it on a whole new level. What is missing, what is needed. One of her most important assets is her ability to ask why and watch, observe what is going on without judgment or preconceived notions based on dogmatic teachings not relevant to real life. Leigh Anne IS real life. She knows how what and why to reach and engage kids who have often had no one their entire lives really see them. The energetics of the interactions are often the most important part and the very part of our offspring with special needs education that is rarely observed or explored. To do so freely requires unconventional programming and thinking and IS what will give these individuals deeply embedded experience to carry forward and integrate into every aspect of their lives. Priceless.

So that being said, this is one of the most important discussions I’ve had to date on TSC Talks personally as my son Jack has benefitted immensely from participating in this sort of immersive, apprenticeship experience gaining valuable skills, both tangible and energetic. Here’s a recent description of gains made: “There’s A LOT going on there when we’re together. Not just the obvious, like physical fitness, and employment-based objectives, but Distress Tolerance, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, time management, generalizing skills, problem-solving…. learning how and when NOT to answer back to an authority figure. (Instead of saying, “I know,” or “I was going to do that,” when he clearly wasn’t, just saying “OK.”) We address that OFTEN. Staying on topic, being able to complete a task WHILE socializing….

Another example is planning. Looking at the task at hand (like cleaning a pen or stall) and being able to decide which tools you’re going to need (the pen might require a garden rake and a metal pitchfork, vs. an aluminum shovel and a plastic pitchfork for the stall), and how to efficiently complete the task. Right now, he tends to be on autopilot at Jesse’s, because he’s done it before, and knows what tools to use. But if we go to a different barn/farm, he will sometimes just walk into the stall without any tools or automatically grab the tools that he’d use as Jesse’s. But Jesse has brand-new rubber stall mats under the shavings, whereas other barns might have hard, packed-down dirt that is uneven, old, warped stall mats, or even slab cement under the shavings, which impacts the tools needed for the job. Additionally, the concept of ‘using your head to save your feet and planning out the technique or way you’re going to do something….like cleaning the stall of the older horse first so that you can put him in there to eat first since it takes him so long. Or, turning on the hose as you walk by it upon arrival, so you don’t have to go all the way back out to the spigot when you’re ready to fill waters” You get the idea. Enjoy the podcast!

Time stamps~part one

0-4:22 Introduction/opening comments

4:22 Formative years, Grandpa Frank, early signs of autism, overlooked in educational settings, temper, frustrations, family supportive

6:42 Principal’s office, using a paddle, siblings with similarities

8:27 People on the spectrum are empathetic! Animals get it

9:52 Meeting Johnny-“he chose me”, a sucker for the underdog, …both dogs rescues, cats and house chicken!

12:12 Leigh Anne’s challenges-struggled through school, awareness of being different

12:47 Postgrad programs-infuriating and necessary-started with good intentions but people not honest with students about reality

14:57 4 years in post-grad almost wasted, doing worksheets, Leigh Anne shares story of a girl she worked with having to do preschool puzzles

17:02 Toileting-EIP avoided b/c it was assumed she was not going to ever use the toilet but Leigh Anne noticed underdeveloped musculature~ “It’s amazing what you can figure out if you just pay attention a little bit” BCBA determines the course of her future…. on a different track if cannot use the toilet!

17:10 we need more people like you who presume competence!

19:57 Leigh Anne can see birds-eye view on why the life skills programs are the way they are..too many kids, squeaky wheel/most intense needs, profound symptoms get attention and people with milder, more subtle issues fly under the radar

22:22 stop and look at why? Leigh Anne gives example with a woman from Belchertown-only thing she could control was her bowels so used incontinence … giving options and letting her choose and always asking WHY is this happening?

26:02 So many things were out of young lady’s control, diagnosis can be a tool and a knife that cuts both ways

27:32 having a diagnosis can be helpful if you can handle it…

28:37 Rose-colored glasses, person-first language, and the pendulum swung the other way for those turning 22. Leigh Anne thinks there should be required classes for parents, so they know what to expect when turning 22 and transitioning to adult services, etc.

32:29 Leigh Anne is UNCONVENTIONAL!! Caseloads at DDS extreme, high turnover, problems with adequate staffing in group homes

33:16 GCP (good citizenship project) Started when she was working as a program coordinator at Seven Hills, minimal consequences for behavior with not realistic environment. Folks turning 22 smart, capable wonderful kids with potential and no self-awareness skills, minimal options

37:32 Nonprofit/volunteering issues, for-profit volunteer issues, liability issues, not a lot of places for GCP so L.A. developed plan that you could not join GCP unless you had good attendance, no aggression, pitched to Phil Philbin (former head of Aspire) and GCP was started at Seven Hills

41:40 First event was a chili cook-off, building community relations, thanking firefighters, getting constructive feedback, also hosting Friendsgiving, kids did all the work

43:44 GCP-you do nice things for other people without expectation of anything in return” You feel good when you do good things, and it will come back to you

46:32 Info on finding GCP, see above, no requirements for joining, Leigh Anne’s rules0deal with circumstances, weather, not for faint of heart, hard work

49:26 Jack’s response to GCP amazing. “A taste of success” from Better Off Dead 😊 get instant rewards with animals and practice. Very empowering

55:07 Emu Jersey is goofy, no boundaries will nibble on the jacket, kids will allow b/c it’s not a person so a way to practice

58:09 Leigh Anne was a Case Manager, and she would never read up on clients b/c you form judgments

59:26 If you have a diagnosis and an IEP you’ve been taught how to judge first and think later

59:51 Leigh Anne wants members of GCP to have a sense of meaning and purpose, know how to speak up for themselves in an effective way

1:00:39 Jack, example fear of failing, etc

1:02:14 Unintended goals, squelching learned helplessness, parents often tired and will not give time for a child to learn on their own

1:05:02Farm a great template, you need to keep yourself safe, level of self-responsibility is required but they can find it!

1:07:09 Blend into neurotypical, Leigh Anne wants to give tools, so life is not so difficult. Examples shared

1:08:37 Restaurant example-this population is not used to choosing, having discussions at the restaurant, taking pressure off

Stay tuned for Part 2!

Points of Light~Bryan M. Henry, Founder of Together We Ascend-“Connected to Love”

In this episode titled “Connected to Love” I had the pleasure of interviewing Bryan M. Henry, Founder of Together We Ascend, an organization and community that is on the mission of assisting in collective ascension, and the co-creation of a more harmonious and prosperous world for all. To this aim, Bryan and the Together We Ascend team is uniting and activating lightworkers through the Ascend Academy. Bryan also is the Creator/Producer of “Awaken with Bryan Henry”~ a podcast.

Bryan is indeed connected to love and what he communicates in this podcast is just that, as well as how we all are connected to love in the deepest and most complete of ways. Giving others an assist in rediscovering this connection is what Bryan is called to do. I got the chance to learn this first hand when I came across his Ascend Academy almost a year ago and booked my first session with Bryan. From there our connection grew, and I have been working with him for the last seven months. The recent intuitive podcasting workshop evolved out of our work together.

Here’s one of Bryan’s opening statements, “so I know that you sent me a few preliminary questions to kind of prepare myself but I feel like the best thing I could have done to prepare my pair myself was to drop into here, and that chest region in that body to feel and rather than have some pre-scripted answer. Sure what felt most inspiring in this moment. Perfect. That feels like today is the story of a guy that loves to serve, loves to be in service of others loves to contribute, loves to witness transformation take place before his eyes. I’ve over the course of my journey have come to my perspectives, my beliefs around what goes into living a joyous, filling, and exciting life. And part of what that entails for me is being in service to something bigger than oneself. When I look back to all of my experiences, the accumulation of everything I’ve been through all of the best ones came from being connected to love and making it more about giving than getting. And the irony becomes when you find yourself centered in this space of wanting to give for you get to experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from that. You begin to realize that the giving and receiving are ultimately the same thing.”

Points of Light~Lisa Smith, Advocate, Foster Parent, Mom “All 100 Sheep”

I recently had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Lisa Smith recently on TSC Talks. I met Lisa through a mutual friend, as is explained in the podcast. I was thrilled to do a podcast with another special needs parent and local to Massachusetts. Lisa is a parent of 22 years old Nick, who experiences nonverbal autism, has adopted several children, and over the years has fostered 27. During our interview not only was Lisa able to draw from and articulate profound experiences and topics in such a way as to not only connect them to her lived experience, but she was also able to illustrate how she’s taken the time to integrate and utilize all of it to further evolve as a soul but to also facilitate trust, healing, and connection for all her children, biological, adopted and fostered. Her words tell the story, her faith guides her. One of the most important points of our discussion was the realization that it is not these children that are “lucky to have her,” but it is she that is lucky to have them.

As a special needs parent myself, this awareness was a true turning point in my understanding of this divine assignment where I became the student and realized my children are my teachers, one that Lisa feels and experiences every day.

“It’s biblical, she said at one point “And when I began to read the Bible, I had learned that some of my actual walks in life, were very biblical… There’s a story that says, God got the 99 sheep, but there was one on the hill. He went back for that one. Most people in life. So God has designed me through my journey, not to forget the one.”

Presence, presence, and presence. And to me? Be present. People always say things like, oh, if I win the lottery, I will do that. And I always tell people all the time I won the lottery five times, five children and people say, oh, they’re so lucky to have you, but really….How do I know that I’m going to take care of my disabled son someday? Right? How do I know they’re not there to help me when I become disabled someday? We do not know, you know, so we, you know, and, and we don’t do it for those selfish reasons. So, we don’t do anything to get things, you know, and, and, you know, we do things because that’s who we are and that’s our heart.”

I appreciated this podcast so much and hope you will too. I feel it was put in front of me by my higher self, as sound bite after sound bite so many of Lisa’s words not only related to me personally but also inspired and challenged me. Her faith in God is huge and expansive but she shares honestly the hard truths she’s faced personally to get to where she is now. Thanks, Lisa, for all the ways you are serving a higher calling and being willing to share your journey with me and this audience.

Points of Light~James Davis, Bay Staters for Natural Medicine, “Advocacy from the Heart”

I had the pleasure of interviewing James Davis recently on TSC Talks. As you’ll hear in the podcast, we connected a little over a year ago when he was just getting started with Bay Staters for Natural Medicine and looking for volunteers. At that time, I’d been experimenting with microdosing natural medicine for mental health reasons, it was helping, and I thought I’d jump in. Life pulled me away from that volunteer work, but James made a profound impression on me, and I had the notion that he’d be successful in whatever he endeavored, particularly his advocacy around decriminalization of plant entheogens, as his passion, kindness, and honesty just stands out. When we connected to do the podcast, I was not surprised, but also surprised by the progress he and the growing team of volunteers he leads has made over the past year. He hits it home on so many topics within this pod, I thought it best just to include the full transcript. Thanks, James, for showing up, being such a divine-human and inspiring, and leading many to make a difference. Enjoy the pod!

“James Davis is a leader of Bay Staters for Natural Medicine. They have mobilized over a thousand Massachusetts volunteers to decriminalize Somerville, Cambridge, Northampton, and Easthampton and have pending resolutions in Boston, Burlington (VT), Amherst, Worcester, Needham, Salem, and Medford. These resolutions decriminalize growing and selling plants like magic mushrooms, which reduce the risk of opioid addiction 55% after a single experience and have been proven to have statistically significant benefits for PTSD and depression. Their resolutions also end all controlled substance possession arrests, referring people for addiction treatment and committing our cities to invest in these services. In this episode, you will also learn about the other types of entheogenic plants and the power they hold to help us heal”

Here’s an excerpt from the transcript, the full transcript is available here~https://tsctalks.com/tsc-talks-james-davis-transcript/

James D: Thanks, James, thank you so much for having me, Jill. I’m really excited to chat and I am really [00:02:00] grateful for the support you showed for bay Staters.

When we were just a 10 follower Instagram group. We only started about a year and some months ago. And at that stage, We were just weirdos, emailing our city councils, sharing our stories with plant medicine. We took the philosophy that we didn’t need to fundraise a lot of money. We didn’t need to even have a website active to just start doing this advocacy work and start speaking from the heart.

And you know, what this has snowballed into is really, really awesome and beautiful and all the lessons we’ve learned along the way and advocacy. About the medicines themselves just from meeting so many people whose lives have been changed with this psilocybin experience or an MDMA experiment experience or an LSD experience.

So just really honored to be here and really glad that we met too. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. To tell you a little bit more about who I [00:03:00] am. I know you mentioned all those credentials Yeah, they really don’t define who I am. I would say. So I, I grew up in Kansas in a trailer park that was on the wrong side of the railroad tracks.

So all the middle-class kids lived on one side a Walmart supercenter. And then I lived on the side that was mostly liquor stores and churches and run down streets. So. I was raised by my mom my biggest inspiration in life and she Growing up was always working multiple jobs to make ends me really inspire me to work hard as well.

And then she was dealing with a lot of intergenerational trauma herself. Her father’s had served in the Pacific theater, the Korean war and Vietnam. And. There was just a lot of, a lot of trauma that she had picked up from childhood and then relationships stemming from, from being a young woman and just growing [00:04:00] alongside her.

It really shaped me into the person I am today and made me really compassionate to help people who are struggling in poverty who have that intergenerational trauma. So that’s why I think fundamentally this line of work emerged from.

Jill W: That’s really beautiful. I know I’m sure that was not, it was a tough upbringing in a lot of ways, but I, yeah, just to have your mom, just to have that connection with your mom.

I, I remember when I first met you and I should say, I don’t know how our paths crossed specifically. Maybe through social media, but I ended up doing a little bit of advocacy work with James and I’ve had my own plant medicine experiences that have been transformational. Really. I don’t want to say saved my life, but really gave me the insight I needed to.

To kind of take charge and not to be, not be a victim and be a participant in my, my life. So I, you know, [00:05:00] I’m so supportive of this, I think it’s, I think it’s great. I want to say everybody, but if it might not be right for everybody, but for as many people as possible. And I do want to say as a special needs mom we’re, we’re kind of trapped in a lot of situations that can’t, that don’t necessarily resolve.

And I think that having a tool like this can give you an ability to get above. The, the trauma that you’re actually you’re experiencing trauma. Either whether you’re witnessing it or you’re impacted by something that’s happening with your kids or the follow-up from relationship problems. And you know, this tool has been tremendous as well as I’d say cannabis as well, but the plant medicines, the plants, thank God for the plants.

Yeah. So how’s the, you know, you guys have done amazing since I last was even involved. So I don’t know if you want to talk further about that or move into a more personal discussion and talk about like what your life’s been like you gave a little bit, or [00:06:00] any particular lived experience that has moved you into, you know, further understanding why you’re here and what you’re doing.

Kind of thing.

James D: So I’m going to try to actually combine those questions, a segue into the ladder. So where we kind of left off in early 2020 is we had finally heard back from Somerville city councilors mantra. The old mantra goes, you know first, they ignore you. Then they laugh at you, then they debate you, and then you went and that’s the exact formula we have seen across the state with plant medicine is you’re not taken seriously at first, but then when they’re receiving an email a day, From people who are very credentialed and very serious about how this has changed their life, they start to pay attention because the city counselors see a lot of human suffering in their own communities and their own families.

by Jill Woodworth

Did those individuals affected by Tuberous Sclerosis Complex drop in for this very time in our collective human history? When I consider the language of the definition of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and let myself drift into that dreamy abstract place of right-brained “thinking” and quantum insights, I imagine each soul in the ether packing their akashic record, knowing they wanted to incarnate on the 3D earth plane for this massive collective awakening and evolution we are now experiencing. At least that’s how I choose to see it. It kinda goes like this….

A conversation in the ether…

Soul to God, or higher guide (your choice here):  How could I put all the life lessons I need, into one tight package that will not only with the unfolding most assist me in my soul’s evolution to a higher plane and contribute to the overall awakening of humanity?

God or higher guide: Well, let’s see, you could jump down in there with a chronic illness, an addiction, or some horrible, complicated cancer, or any number of excruciating “diagnoses”….Wait. Oh, I know, here’s one…There seems to be a number of souls that incarnated more recently with this condition that (get this) causes benign tumors to grow in all the vital organs and possibly all the organs of the human body! Whoa. And those living with this condition end up experiencing all the systems of care have to offer. The good, the bad, the ugly.  The system where they end up spending the most time in the healthcare system, because, oh boy, did you hear that? “benign” tumors, which is really like just saying, let me throw a freakin wrench in it b/c there is no such thing as “benign” in their current healthcare system.

What happens in an organ-based medical system in which each bodily organ basically has its own system within the system, and these humans are just now realizing that the systems all need to talk to each other in order to actually fix anything long-term? Utter chaos. In the form of treatments organ by organ, and added diagnoses, medications and tests and regimens, “neuropsychiatric” issues, massive behavioral challenges, and all kinds of ways of “managing” what is truly unmanageable. Because their understanding of who they are as divine beings, mind, body, and spirit, a visible reflection of the living God, is not fully understood. Yet.

So, therefore, if you choose to do so, you’ll be taking on the core consciousnesses of humility, failure, guilt, shame, anger, frustration, gratitude, forgiveness, devotion, acceptance, and any exponential fragment of any and all of these that you can imagine. And more. You’ll be stacked. It’ll be the most exciting incarnation you could ever choose! Of course- one requirement. You’ll need to pack in, this huge heart, bigger than the entire world, that all these souls seem to have. Seems to be some sort of portal to the essence of these souls’ purpose. So, overall you’re looking at a really mixed bag. If you have some karmic debt, giddy-up. Past lives haunting you? Welcome. Wanna up level in one lifetime? Welp, sign right up. You will be able to clear it all with a good incarnation or two experiencing this conundrum of a role. But what an opportunity!! Every bodily system you can imagine with a literal “wrench” in it. It will force the humans to understand the dire need for the integration of their minds, bodies, and spirit all in one fell swoop!!

You know all those systems never were created for real live people. More for ideas of people as they were, at a fixed point, about 40 or 400 years behind the rest of the world. Now it’s costing the humans dearly. None of us really are square enough to fit into their rigid round holes anymore. What’s needed is a bunch of y’all to jump on in and just be there. Just be in it, you’ll have help. What’ll happen is that big old heart that you are bringing down will force their hand. Those humans are now embedded within these systems and have lost sight of the bigger picture. The broader perspective one you see up here in the ether. The fully integrated divine human. The one that so many are becoming more aware of is possible to stand in, while they are still in a human body. You’ll be contributing to the frequency of heaven on earth, by creating awareness of the dire need for monumental changes in the way things are done down there!

In dropped the TSC affected, through our channels, and we were aptly chosen for the congruent nature of each of our core consciousnesses……some Magna Carta of soul contracts. The ripple effects of the TSC drop-in splash also contracts with many more souls who also can join in the akashic clean-up adventure of a lifetime.  Their needs are so complicated, and hard to tease out on any given day that those that are gifted with these souls’ presence in their lives, whether as their child, parent, sibling, will be in for some tough reckonings. And deep truths. They may fall deeply in love with these souls, forever transformed by the light they carry, so much so they will accept the loss of attachments to just about everything that they think ever mattered. And most will find it worth it. All will. In time.

So, if you ever question what you are doing here, please reflect on this. You matter. So much. You are here for a reason. Even if you don’t really believe this, I don’t care anymore I’m going to say it. This is a path like non-other, not better or worse but wholly unique and wholly worthwhile. Use your time here on the earth plane to keep finding the higher love, the one that resides in each of us, the one that connects us to the beautiful river of love that we are here to honor…

I’m not sure where it came from but it definitely flowed through me, this new/old soul, experiential learner, who awakened to the gift of being alive, here now, and honored to be awakening through the process of “caregiving” individuals with TSC. So much love to you, to me, to all of humanity but especially to those affected by this diagnosis. 💖

I had the pleasure of interviewing Kimrâh Minuty recently on TSC Talks! We had a free-flowing conversation with the main inquiry being how has her lived experience prepared her to step more fully into her soul’s purpose. As an Author, Poet, Ascension Coach, Reiki Master, podcaster, clear channel, communicator, Mother, (and more) she has signed on for many roles in this lifetime.  She went into great detail sharing the events of her life relating it to what she was learning through each experience. We went on a few sidetracks, which always circled back to the main topic beautifully.  Her sense of humor, depth, and powerful presence, plus her excellent oratorical skills made this a fantastic, detailed conversation that fed my soul. Points of Light~Cannabis & Spirituality with Janna Champagne, RN, BSN

I had the pleasure of interviewing Janna Champagne, RN, BSN recently to discuss cannabis and spirituality. Janna has been a fantastic TSC Talks Podcast guest several times in the past. I am linking to those podcasts for anyone interested in hearing more from Janna, including her initial “story”, and more detailed information on using cannabis to heal and her work with Autism, leading to developing Autism Safe Haven. Our most recent interview delved into Janna’s story and teased out how her lived experience led her to step more fully into her soul’s purpose. Janna delivers heartfelt, vulnerable glimpses from her journey thus far in this lifetime. Her lived experience is testimony to the power of continuing to show up, work on herself, and allow herself to surrender and be led by spirit despite some overwhelming odds. Nurse Janna’s focus is holistic treatment–natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals including CBD and cannabis therapy.  Her work as a cannabis-specialty nurse since 2015 included educating thousands of patients, helping them optimize their cannabis therapy outcomes through an individualized and well-informed approach.  Janna has since applied her extensive clinical knowledge to educate medical professionals about cannabis, and help producers create therapeutic quality and targeted cannabis products, with a goal of improving cannabis patient success rates.   Janna is also founder of Autism Safe Haven, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to improving cannabis-inclusive Autism care resources.

Nurse Janna’s specialties include: Autism, Inflammatory/Chronic Pain Syndromes, Autoimmune, Neurological, Gastrointestinal, and Mental Health conditions.  Janna found that success with cannabis often led to reduced reliance on pharmaceuticals, meanwhile improving quality of life and function.
Nurse Janna is a founding member of Cannabis Nurses Network, serving on CNN’s Speaker’s Bureau, and as leadership.   Janna was awarded Leader of Nursing and Outstanding Author for Cannabis Nurses Media in 2019, and nominated/awarded Cannabis Nurses Network 2020 Educator of the Year.   Janna offers accredited cannabis nurse education programs, and also serves as a cannabis college professor, teaching graduate student medical practitioners through John Patrick University’s Master’s of Integrative Medicine Degree Program.  Helping producers create optimal cannabis products resulted in one of the CBD product lines winning Top 10 CBD of 2020 designation using Janna’s formula recipes (Verdania Fields).   Janna also serves as medical advisor and patient advocate for United Patients Group, dedicated to educating consumers with reliable cannabis information.  Nurse Janna is a member of the Oregon Cannabis Clinician’s Group and volunteers on the Patient Care Subcommittee of the Oregon Cannabis Commission, and the Ryan’s Law Oregon Advocacy Team.

7:05-8:04 Early experience with spirituality through Reiki

8:05-8:40 Graduated from hs at 17, went right into college, lots of jobs

8:41-55 Age 27 had a daughter and got ill later that year, the start of chronic health issues

8:55-9:39 Age 28 hospitalized, was septic, almost died and had a near-death experience that made her want to become a nurse, her daughter was only 9 mos old

9:40-10:19 contrast between a nurse that was an advocate vs shamin’ blamin’ nurse, demonstrated the impact and importance of good care

10:20-11:04 Natural childbirth was a breeze -compared to ongoing stomach issues

11:05-12:14 Root of pain turned out to be perforated appendix leaking! She was septic, peritonitis

12:15-15:00 Ongoing discussion of pain issues..NDE, own mother wasn’t sure she’d make it through surgery w/the perforated appendix did not see white lights but was given a choice of whether or not to return. She had thought of her daughter…

15:05-16:35 Starting nursing school, daughter diagnosed w/autism in 10/2004, did a lot of research related to autism, graduated with Bachelors, continued research, worked in intense nursing units, cardiac cath lab, conscious sedation patients…ended up getting sick

16:35-17:49 Dropped out of nursing school b/c she was so sick, 5 credits short of Masters! Felt suicidal, without a purpose, diagnosed with lupus, on antibiotics, had kidney failure, chronic autoimmune issues

17:50-20:59 Started on Cannabis! Felt some guilt due to upbringing, programming…husband got some white widow, health improved, she couldn’t believe it. She started learning everything she could “hungry brain syndrome”

21:00-22:24 a Huge rift in her family of origin over her cannabis use. Catastrophic break, they couldn’t accept her use, despite her mom being a nurse. She had a lot of awarenesses about her childhood upbringing

22:25-23:19 Breaking long-standing generational patterns with family, doing a lot of inner work

23:20 Was told by a healer with whom she was working that Cannabis is one of her spirit guides

26:00-27:19 Discussion of deep programming around cannabis and other subjects, are we not allowed to question but just have faith? Religious beliefs question everything

27:20-28:19 She was sent to ultra-conservative HS, almost cultish and you were looked down upon if you hadn’t received the gift of speaking in tongues, also discussed PTSD

28:20-29:14 Cannabis is a piece of healing, led her to other tools such as transcendental meditation which was life-altering

29:15-30:09 Special needs moms….the need to step out of the fire, meditation, walking meditation, being present

30:10-31:04 thoughts the root of all suffering, shifting beliefs, paradigms, we are supported always…

31:05-32:00 Staying in the flow of your life, inspired action, surrendering-the hardest moments have silver linings, stepping into your soul’s purpose, higher calling

32:00-32:59 writing a book, questioning medical system with daughter pediatricians clueless, “there’s nothing we can do here”

33:00-34:04 Neurodiversity, autism, pain issues, gut issues, goal to help her daughter live her best life, best possibility of reaching full potential

34:05-34:54 had inclination w/Reiki, biomedical approach to daughter’s autism, imbalances in the gut, epigenetics/nutrigenomics, cannabis started in 2014 w/puberty crisis

34:55-36:19 Puberty crisis-behaviors become more extreme, pain formulations, communication

36:20-37:59 Narrowly escaped out of home placement, credits cannabis sparing her that additional trauma

38:00-39:14 Start researching cannabis NOW, Jill mentions why it’s important, cannabis doesn’t fix everything, can even just reduce reliance on pharma

39:15-40:05 Are stories are powerful, she published her daughter’s story!

40:06-40:49 Endocannabinoid system  (ECS) deficiencies lead to chronic illness, autism, etc, many common conditions can be treated by regulating the ECS

40:50-42:09 Cannabis is a gift for our highest good, used for mainstream medicine until 1937. It should be a basic human right….Jesus may have used cannabis, what would Jesus do?

42:10-43:29 Autism Safe Haven, guided by following cannabis patients needs, cannabis inclusive autism care resources

43:30-44:04 Unity Formulas, for-profit entities, in exchange for contributions…help overcome barriers

44:05-44:54 Building for profits to support nonprofit

44:55-48:34 Cannabis nurses network, Jim Bartel, Ryan’s Law, www.cannabisnurseapproved.com can find cannabis nurses

48:35 talk to Jesus, it’s a tool, tip of the iceberg, post-traumatic growth, stepping out of our stories, finding purpose in the story, seeing the benefit for others

Thank you, Janna!

Points of Light~Cannabis & Spirituality with Sherri Tutkus, RN, BSN

I recently heard some talk in spiritual communities about cannabis, how it possibly harshes our evolution. I’ll admit, I was a little bit triggered when I first heard this. I felt for a moment that what I’d come to understand as my truth, (using cannabis as medicine and as a portal to divine connection and expansion), was under the microscope. I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding of cannabis, cannabis as medicine, cannabis as an entheogen. What I was hearing from some within the spiritual community, didn’t line up with what I had learned and experienced and it was confusing. Cannabis, in many ways, opened a portal so I could see how to save my own life.

So, I did what has become a foundational transformational process for me and I took it to the podcast to ask the burning question I had on my mind about cannabis and spirituality. I thought, “why not interview somebody that I know that has some lived experience in that area?” I reached out to my friend Sherri Tutkus, RN, BSN, Green Nurse, former podcast guest, to see if she’d have this discussion with me. And of course, she said yes. (I will continue interviewing individuals who are interested in sharing their “story” of how their lived experiences, of all shades, let them to stepping more fully into their soul’s purpose.)

From a very young age, Sherri was connected and had some experiences with the divine. What followed from my initial query is a beautiful discussion with her just blowing my mind with the things she’s experienced and where she’s gone and come back from to be a shining light and a heck of a guide for others. Through her combo of traditional medical education, deep lived experience as a patient, nurse, mother, medical cannabis patient, psychedelic explorer and guide, podcaster, businesswoman, and friend to many, her depth of insight is epic. I learned a lot and realized I had the answer within, which it always is, needing a little context and connection to spring loose. Let’s hope you can find some valuable insight as well. Let it rip!

Sherri Tutkus BSN- RN is a leading force in the burgeoning cannabis industry as a nurse, patient, advocate, and activist. All that she shares and teaches facilitates our own innate ability to step more fully into our authentic, divine selves. Sherri is the Founder of The Green Nurse and Chief Nursing Officer at Holistic Caring- a global community of health professionals who provide vetted products and services to support the utilization of plant medicine and other progressive therapies to nourish the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Sherri educates and implements holistic integrative healing modalities within her nursing practice at https://thegreennurse.com/team/sherri-tutkus/

“And through all of that my discovery was this. We have beliefs, and beliefs are fed to us from the outside. And so, we have a choice to either believe it or not believe it. Right. But does a belief make it true? That’s the question that people need to ask. So, truth…. what is truth? Truth is basically when someone has an experience, that can become their truth. All truth is truth. But all truth is not yours and mine at the same time.”

Nina Patry~Points of Light, From Primal Scream Therapy to Paradox Process-The Journey Home

“here’s my mother picturing me living in the woods with an outhouse, etc, etc. And she had said to me, how can you be living such a Hard life. So one day I’m out there kicking the ice out of the buckets, thinking hard life. Wait a minute, when my mother was my age, she had five kids, the hardest thing I have to do is kick the frozen ice out of their buckets on these, you know, under zero-degree morning. That’s the hardest thing that I do. What is she talking about? What is she talking about? Again, it’s this whole relative reality, you know, the people look, five, just like me looking from the outside saying, I could never do that.”

I can only say I’ve had one of the best times of my life getting to know Nina Patry. For all the negativity around Facebook, that’s where I met her. In a forum for Lorie Ladd, during the COVID madness. Our paths were destined to cross. Our connection and experience together, over the last 6 months, was enough to make me want to podcast again. You’ll hear the description of how I thought we met and then Nina’s description of how we met, which was far more accurate. Funny.  What I want to note is how important it has been for Nina to solidify her inner voice and deep knowing, her authentic self, despite the external reality into which she was born is one in which often didn’t make sense in a way that allowed her to feel loved and at home with her own awesomeness and value.

Born the oldest of 7, to a world-renowned, MD working in the field of Pharmacology~ in NYC, busy parents, whose hands were full, she internalized the message to stay out of the way and not draw attention to herself. did not follow any preconceived or single life path, like me, she’s been an avid student of life. Each experience led her further into asking the question, “Is this really all there is?”. From her earliest memories to today, she weaves a beautiful narrative based upon the inner and outer experience of each memory she shares.  She states, “If I’d have had to plan a life for myself to get me to where I am today, I could not have planned it any better!”

I am honored to get the chance to ask her questions and discuss pretty much freestyle, her navigation across the time-space continuum, the adventures she’s had along the way, what was gleaned, what was stored and how each experience held a gift, like a scavenger hunt, leading her along the path of further stepping into her soul’s purpose. There’s so much within the episode, and I’ve noted the timestamps that I thought jumped out, below. Please also note the very important links Nina asked me to share on Emily Fletcher and Ziva Meditation as well as on Thomas Jones and The Paradox Process.

Finding A Cure

with Host of TSC Talks~Jill Woodworth

Jill Woodworth, host of TSC Talks gives a commentary on the notion of “finding a cure”, which is the tag line for about every chronic disease known to humankind, and how this notion often clouds the less than loving motives behind the industry, corporations, non-profits, medical system and more that extract energy, like a battery, from those for whom they claim to serve. There is always information to which the masses, those affected, and their entire support collective are not privy, which would allow for more light, more ways of figuring out how to genuinely and wholistically find a cure, and at least improved quality of life along the way. Hold onto your hearts people, don’t judge another’s path, no matter what, and love yourself if you do. NO matter what. #loveistheanswer #tsctalks

The following blog was written in 1993 by my new and good friend, Nina Patry. Nina hails from Rutland Vermont. Her claim to fame is that she is a certified Paradox Process instructor. We met last year while I was getting called up on a Lorie Ladd live event and not able to get my equipment to work to connect. Nina was cheering me on and we ended up chatting on FB and pretty soon we both realized we had connections to special needs individuals. Me, as a parent, and she as a sister and aunt. We’ve been friends ever since, in fact, to learn more about Nina, listen to the podcast I did with her. (link) During a recent conversation, we were discussing some of our experiences of the extraordinary abilities of our loved ones with special needs to be far more energetically tuned in than most ever imagine and what a gift, it was to have these “seers” in our lives. Then she read me the following bit of prose she’d written, which I immediately knew I had to share. I left the language as written. While harsh to read, it speaks somewhat to a bit of evolution of consciousness, that must continue in an accelerated manner related to all things we now define as “special needs”. Thanks, Nina for this precise and moving piece.

I went to Church this morning.  First time in a long time.  In Charlottesville, Virginia, where a large portion of our family has gathered for Thanksgiving.  And I found myself particularly thankful for the special people in my life.

I sat in the front row, surrounded by my brother and my nieces –  all “special needs” people. Christopher with Down Syndrome, thirty-two years young; Maggie and Emma are developmentally delayed, with no more specific label attached.  Maggie and Emma are identical twins, eight and a half years young.

Retarded.  Developmentally delayed.  Rather judgmental terms—or at least markings at the low end along a linear evaluation of human beings.  I prefer the Rudolf Steiner/Camp Hill movement view.  That perspective places these people, at least on the spiritual plane, as beings more closely aligned with the unseen spiritual aspects of reality.  They are seen as souls who have difficulty adapting to, accepting, relating to the advanced state of materialism much of our world reflects these days.

It is said in Camp Hill literature I have read, that these souls incarnate, but cannot enter fully into the mindsets, perceptions, and values currently dominant in “modern” or “postmodern” culture.  Instead, these folk arrive, one foot in and one foot out.  Here, but not here in the same way the rest of us are.  And in that difference, their presence is a strong conduit, one which the spiritual plane needs to help bring our world back into balance.

These folk live their lives in many senses free of the pressures, drives, greed, and fears that many of us “normals” experience.  They exist on more basic levels.  And freedom from the materialist drives seems to leave them more time and energy for the truly important aspects of life.  The unseen.  Love joy emotions happiness.  Freer to be themselves—they don’t understand so well our “civilized” codes—the dress code, the wariness and distance with “strangers” codes, codes on the “proper” ways to be in various situations.

I personally love to witness the ways in which this freedom reveals itself.  Both Chris and the twins are more overtly, actively friendly to strangers than many other people I know.  Saying hello, smiling, sometimes staring (definitely considered rude by some), but it is clearly an observation and awareness of others that many of us believe need to be kept secret for some reason.

My brother loves to attend performances of many kinds, especially musical performances.  He will encourage the performers from the audience.  Give them the thumbs-up sign or a wave.  He is often the first on his feet to give a standing ovation and likes to go up to the stage and shake hands with the performers.  (If any opportunity presents itself for him to get his hands on a microphone, so much the better!)

And last night, too, when Mom, Dad, Chris, and I arrived at the airport, Maggie and Emma’s greeting was contagious.  Flapping, smiling, almost flying around the airport in their unconfined excitement over our arrival.  For these and so many other reasons, I am eternally giving thanks for my specials.
