TSC Talks Guest Chiara Juster

TSC Talks guest Chiara Juster, Advocate and Strategic Counsel, Head of Government Affairs, Oaksterdam University, Host of High Tea Tuesdays on OU Instagram and Legal Advisor for The Last Prisoner Project.
From her bio:

“Chiara Juster is a social justice advocate and attorney. She advises Oaksterdam on government and policy matters and is OU’s liaison to DC; she represents the school as an active member of the National Cannabis Industry Association where she is in her second year on the Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee.

In addition to her work with Oaksterdam, Chiara is an advocate for reform, decarceration, cannabis & works on various policy matters. She was matched by Last Prisoner Project with the longest serving non-violent cannabis offender currently incarcerated in the United States, Richard DeLisi, who has been incarcerated since 1988. With good time he is set to be released from his ninety year sentence in July, 2022, but that day may never come as Richard is older, in poor health, and in a prison experiencing a COVID19 outbreak. If you’d like this grandfather of five to live his days with his loving family please visit FreeDeLisi.com.

Chiara grew up in Portland, OR, though she was born in CA. She attended the University of Oregon where she received degrees in political science and sociology before attending the University of Miami School of Law. She realized as a young prosecutor that there was no such thing as prosecutorial discretion. Disheartened, she left the country & spent years traveling & learning, before returning stateside resolute on changing the laws. She is a graduate of Oaksterdam University & hosts High Tea Tuesdays on OU’s IG live where she discusses a Cannacopia of topics.”

Chiara starts off giving some background from a personal perspective:
“I was born in Northern California. But I grew up in Portland, Oregon, from the time I was a toddler, and ended up going to college in Oregon. in a state where cannabis had been decriminalized since 1973. I actually grew up in Earl Blumenauer’s district, I have one of his little pins behind me, he gives a nod on the hill. And when I went to University of Oregon, obviously cannabis had always been part of the culture in Eugene. When I then went to the University of Miami for law school, it was a whole different world, particularly when it came to drug policy, cannabis in particular, to harm reduction overall, and Community Investment”

TSC Talks Guest Sarah Hope

TSC Talks guest Sarah Hope joins me for a connected conversation sponsored by the plants.🌿  It was wonderful to cross paths with Sarah Hope on LinkedIn recently and have her as a guest on the podcast. She is the first Microdose Coach I have met, let alone interviewed. I have a personal interest in microdosing, mostly cannabis, but recently have tried psilocybin with excellent results. It has been a tool to engage in some perceptual shifts, processing and healing that I found subtle, non-toxic, and exceptionally worthwhile. “With micro-dosing, basically, what you’re going for is a sub-perceptual effect, so that you have a slight increase in brain connectivity, but you’re not having so much electricity or connectivity in the brain that you’re tripping or having a plant journey. But you’re in this sort of, like, sub perceptual spot, slightly more open to life, perhaps slightly more focused. And it’s something probably that people have been doing since ancient times, but the person who made it famous or the person who really kind of operationalize it as a psychological treatment was Dr. James Fadiman.” I’m clipping this bio from her LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shopecoaching/

“I believe in your ability to reconnect with your own true, sacred and powerful nature. When you choose to do so you will access your own power in order to realize your own unique contribution to humanity. When we choose to work together we will settle for nothing less than the best expression of your talent and skill as we design the life you came here to live. I offer this work via three channels.

TSC Talks Guest Tiffany Watkins 2

TSC Talks guest Tiffany Watkins is a “Cannabis Enthusiast”, founder and CEO of Vanguard Media, and cannabis activist. She’s been an activist for 20+ years and has done a lot of work to bring awareness to health care and proper distribution of Medical Cannabis as well as paving the way for Recreational Cannabis.

She has marched the Capital (CA), to help bring a voice to those in need of the protection of the Compassionate Care Act. Additionally, she has attended and spoken at City Council meetings and delivered talks as a keynote when invited.

“I am Tiffany Watkins a.k.a. LadyCanna.

In three decades I have witnessed a lot of changes in this industry, but one thing remains the same; not everyone gets to have a voice. I have been treated with disrespect, talked down to in situations, and made to feel as if my contributions to the Cannabis community didn’t matter.
I knew this treatment was not only because I am a POC, but because I am a Woman. I also knew…I wasn’t alone.

Since the 1990’s it has been my focus to have equity and unity surrounding Cannabis. Working together, with every voice having validity, has been both our greatest asset and our biggest struggle.

Closing the gap between the sexes in the cannabis industry will take hard work from us all. I founded Vanguard Media with providing a platform to bridge that gap in mind. Women in the cannabis community deserve the spotlight…and we shall stand in it unapologetically. ”

I worked at America’s first hemp company, that was owned by Steve DeAngelo in the early 90s. I’ve known Steve since the late 70s. Worked with his company in the 80s. I worked with EcoBoost in the 90s and we’re still friends today. Annie Rouse is our resident academic. She is the world’s only Fulbright scholar in the subject of hemp. She is also currently the only person who carries a master’s degree in hemp. She and others have put hemp in space. We are studying hemp on the International Space Station. Jim and I are working on novel delivery devices. We have two patents filed, one for cannabinoids and lipophilic compounds and another for reduction of the spread of coronavirus using our delivery device and some of our cannabinoids and other features and he is an expert on regulation. Annie sits on the board of directors, she is the secretary of the Hemp Industry Association. She is on the board of directors for the US Hemp Authority and the Hemp Roundtable. I am on the board of directors for the National Cannabis Industry Association and I am on the Hemp Industry Committee. Our job is education and getting the knowledge out there about the plant and that it’s good for people to use”
